Combing Grandma’s Hair – Digital Art Study –18 august 2020
A Touching Scene
During my journey to learn Digital Art, I came across this photography taken by Le Quang Thai (2013 – Vietnam):
The Black & White effect captured perfectly the calm authenticity of the moment 😍
My View
During my childhood, my grandma used to comb my hair. Thus, my goal was to draw fast and keep the girl’s focus expression combined with her “grandma”(I supposed) waiting for her to finish & the movement of combing hair.
All this in a cosy family atmosphere.
I ended up with a cartoon like style (it belongs to a series of paintings:Pastel).
Final Details
Surprisingly, the result is I believe quite accurate. I was proud to end up with a simple translation of the photography and chose to add a background to set the scene more.
Comment
What do you think? Is my interpretation right? The photography was inspiring, I was glad to work on this reference 😚
